CONGRATULATIONS PREMIER CLARK – SOME SOLUTIONS FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION | BC First Party.

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR SUCCESSFUL RUN PREMIER CLARK – SOME SOLUTIONS FOR THE PROBLEMS YOUR PREDECESSOR LEFT YOU

VANCOUVER – (Sunday, February 27, 2011) – With the election of Christy Clark as BC’s 35th Premier, the BC First Party is accepting her invitation to “hear from all British Columbians” and to “institute real change” by providing some solutions to some of BC’s largest problems she will have to face on day one.

BC First Spokesperson, Chris Delaney, says his party is sincere in offering some innovative and positive solutions, and hopes Premier designate Clark is sincere in her offer to listen and to make real changes.

Following are BC First’s new policy ideas for Premier designate Clark:

The HST – You had it right the first time Premier – reconvene the legislature, have a free vote, and cancel the HST now. This will save taxpayers $30 million for a useless referendum everyone already knows the outcome of, not to mention saving the restaurant industry, the construction industry, the vacation home industry, the tourism industry, small businesses, consumers, and tens of thousands of jobs for British Columbians. Bonus feature – it will also save you launching into a bitter fight against your own citizens and destroying any chance you have of being elected at large.

Coastal Oil Tankers – British Columbians are outraged by having to take the environmental risk of shipping Alberta crude oil off our coast, with zero reward. Tell Ottawa we will only allow a pipeline through BC on the condition that they commit to match funding for the building of a refinery at the Port of Prince Rupert, and that only refined oil in the form of gasoline will be shipped from BC. This will add the first new refinery in North America in 25 years, create thousands of jobs, reduce the cost of fuel for British Columbians, and eliminate the environmental risk from a crude oil spill, since gasoline evaporates when exposed to air or water.

The BC Ferry Fuel Fiasco – First, you’ll have to admit your predecessor messed up his version of the ferries worse than the NDP did theirs by building ships that consume 32% more fuel than the regular C-class ferries, and which have severe “air drawing” problems when unloaded due to single speed motors. That’s not gonna be easy – but then we can begin a thorough investigation to see if retro fitting vari-speed engines and conventional props will solve the problems, so instead of mooring these white elephants half the year they can be put to permanent use.

BC Hydro – This is a biggie. First, end the wasteful and costly P-3 Run of River projects which force taxpayers to subsidize private companies to produce energy at double the cost than we can sell it for ourselves. Then commit to restoring BC Hydro as a fully publicly owned utility with an expanded mandate to control distribution of all energy. Bonus – This will provide the additional revenues necessary to pay for the massive infrastructure costs at Hydro so you can lower rates instead of raising them. You can even rename it “BC Energy”.

Healthcare – Another biggie. It’s time to follow other provinces and get rid of ever increasing “regressive” MSP premiums. Let’s move to a “progressive” fee for service model that is capped at 1% of income, has exemptions for poor and low income patients, and regulations ensuring all patients receive treatment regardless of ability to pay.

Also, change funding for hospitals to a system where they can only bill Health Services for each patient they serve. Patients must also give “approval” for service before the hospital can be paid.  This will put patients at the centre of treatment by valuing them as assets instead of liabilities. It will create balanced competition within a public system leading to improved service, less waste, increased accountability and greater efficiency. Oh yes – and consult all stakeholders on the new plan and hold a referendum before implementing it.

Education –Implement “per student” funding for primary and secondary education, scaled to each Region. This will give parents and students more educational choice, allow communities to choose which schools  to support when there are closures, provide additional education infrastructure in rural areas, increase efficiency and accountability within the school system, and improve educational outcomes for rural and lower income students. Bonus – it will bring parents, students and teachers together to cooperate in the education of our children, rather than the current model which puts teachers on the front lines of having to defend a system that is unaccountable to everyone.

A new CEO for Elections BC – That the controversial and partisan Acting CEO for Elections BC, Craig James, is still there after 8 months when he was supposed to be a temporary appointment by your predecessor, is unacceptable to British Columbians.

He has made major decisions that have utterly destroyed public confidence in the impartiality of Elections BC, from firing the deputy CEO after she ruled against a government mail out, to withholding the HST citizen Initiative petition from the legislature in contravention of the law, to threatening hundreds of elderly citizens with heavy fines and jail time for accidentally signing the petition twice, to changing the rules for Recalls after applications were filed. There’s more, but you get the picture. He represents everything wrong with the leader you replaced, and you don’t need any more of that baggage hanging around your neck than you already have. Do the right thing Premier, and hire a permanent, impartial CEO chosen by both sides of the House.

Thanks for listening Premier and being open to change. We wish you well and look forward to your reply.

Sincerely – BC First.

BC LIBERAL FALSE MEMBERSHIPS REACHES EPIC PROPORTIONS

BC LIBERAL FALSE MEMBERSHIPS REACHES EPIC PROPORTIONS

6,000 BC LIBERAL FALSE MEMBERSHIPS REACHES EPIC PROPORTIONS

Elections BC yet to intervene as time is running out on Leadership Vote

PORT COQUITLAM – (Thursday, February 24, 2011) – A CBC news story yesterday reporting the BC Liberal Party has been forced to disqualify 6,000 false new memberships in the run up to their leadership election this Saturday underscores the need for a full investigation by Elections BC says BC First spokesperson, Chris Delaney.

Delaney says new information of massive membership disqualifications together with previous information published in the National Post last week showing foreign interference on BC Liberal membership sign ups via Tides Canada, a US based political action foundation, calls attention to the need for immediate prosecution of the matter by Elections BC before a new premier is elected under a cloud of suspicion of voter fraud.

“We requested an investigation by Acting CEO Craig James into the issue of potential voter fraud on Monday, but have yet to even receive an acknowledgement of that request from Elections BC. It is highly irresponsible, and raises serious concerns,” said Delaney.

Delaney says 6,000 false and potentially fraudulent memberships out of a reported 60,000 new members in the Liberal Party represent over 10% of all new signups.

“That is a staggering number, and calls into question the entire process. British Columbians will remember Elections BC’s concerns about 2,200 duplicate signatures out of a total of 710,000 signatures on the citizen’s Initiative petition against the HST. They though that was so serious they sent hundreds of letters to mostly to elderly citizens who had accidentally signed twice, threatening them with two years in jail and $10,000 fines. And they ordered an RCMP investigation to look into the problem at a cost of hundreds of thousands of dollars. They did all that three months after the petition was validated, for what amounted to less than .03% of invalid signatures on a non binding petition.”

“Here we have 10% of potentially fraudulent memberships in a contest that will choose the next all powerful leader of our province – and Elections BC won’t act?” asked Delaney.

Delaney says CBC reported that over 10,000 memberships were challenged by campaign organizers at a meeting of BC Liberal Party officials on Tuesday night.

“We don’t know which campaigns those memberships were from. We don’t know who signed them. We don’t know who solicited them. We don’t even know if there are thousands more. If this is what the BC Liberals are actually willing to admit to, imagine how much worse the problem could potentially be?”

“We need a postponement of the BC Liberal Leadership vote, and an immediate investigation by Elections BC to assure all British Columbians that the vote for the next premier of BC is legitimate. Anything less calls into question the entire results of that vote,” concluded Delaney.

BC Liberal mole revealed in BC Conservative Party – BC Blue Exposes the Story

BC Liberal mole revealed in BC Conservative Party « BC Blue: One BC Conservative’s view on it all….

Thanks to Dean Skoreyko the pressure is on for this gang to come clean on how they infiltrated the BC Conservative Party to prevent it from becoming a threat electorally.

The question is, we know this has been orchestrated and we know who have been the leaders of this “mole” infestation of the BC Conservative Party, but who has ordered it to be done? The smoking gun is out there through e-mail chains I’m sure. Hopefully, someone will get burned in their camp and then will spill the beans.

This is a major story. The BC Liberals and fed Cons involved in this activity need to be exposed and brought out to the public eye. This is dirty pool politics and clearly the HST is the reason why they did it. Its time for the ring leaders of the Tactical Advisory Committee for the BC Conservative Party to come clean to the public and their members. If I was still a BC Conservative Party member I would be consider mass action to oust them as quick as possible. However the damage has been done and the BC Liberals and the fed Cons got what they wanted by keeping their sacred HST cow of “coalition” under the BC Liberals.

Ex-BC Conservative spokesperson endorses Falcon – One of Randy White’s Tactical Advisors – Public Eye Online

Ex-BC Conservative spokesperson endorses Falcon – Public Eye Online.

The house of cards built by the BC Liberals/Fed Cons that joined the BC Conservative Party to ensure it would not have electoral success is showing its falling apart.

More news is now coming out regularly as all the “rats” from the BC Liberals/ fed Cons who support the BC Liberals head back to their masters in the BC Liberal leadership race.

Merv Unger is one of Randy White’s highly touted members of his Tactical Advisory Committee. Now that he has crawled back to his BC Liberals what does Randy White have to say about this? How about the president Wayne McGrath? Nothing.

Again this website has been working to expose the truth about how deep political corruption operates in British Columbia. The BC Liberals allied to their fed Cons have worked hard to prevent Chris Delaney from positioning to take the leadership of the BC Conservative Party. Now that the BC First Party is up and running I will not doubt the BC Liberal operatives will attempt to get into positions to take control of the BC First Party.

However, one day maybe the mainstream press by the likes of Vaughn Palmer, Keith Baldry, or Michael Smyth will get on the attack for this kind of political behaviour. These are the “rats” that Dean Skoreyko should have pointed out in his comments about Blair Lekstrom. However these rats have the spotlight directly on them and this blog will continue to keep it pointed at this group of BC Liberal fed Con operatives.

Former Conservative National Councillor backing BC Liberal – Author claims possible moles have taken over BC Conservative Party.

Conservative National Councillor backing BC Liberal « BC Blue: One BC Conservative’s view on it all….

This article written by former BC Conservative Party Provincial Executive Board Member Dean Skoreyko points to the facts this website editor has been claiming since last year. This article is a must read for all concerned conservatives in British Columbia showing the deceit being practiced behind closed doors within the BC Conservative Party. That the connections to the BC Liberals through the federal Conservative operatives is strong and that they have no intentions of allowing a BC Conservative Party rise to electoral success.

The issue here is how much longer are the members of the BC Conservative Party going to keep listening to the brain trust? How much longer are they going to continue to be lied to and that in reality the BC Conservatives have been successfully taken over by BC Liberal supporters?

Come on BC Conservative members, stand up and show some backbone and take back your party, otherwise continue to sit in obscurity under the control of those who claim to support the party but have other intentions.

INFORMATION REVEALS FERRY FUEL FIASCO EVEN LARGER THAN THOUGHT | BC First Party

INFORMATION REVEALS FERRY FUEL FIASCO EVEN LARGER THAN THOUGHT | BC First Party.

“FERRY FUEL FIASCO” RESULT OF MAJOR DESIGN FLAWS IN GERMAN BUILT SUPER C – CLASS FERRIES

Delaney: Add “excessive noise” while docked to series of problems with new German built ferries.

PORT COQUITLAM – (Wednesday, February 09, 2011) – Further research into the new Super C- class Ferries built in Germany under the direction of BC Ferries CEO David Hahn reveal a number of design flaws, resulting in the ferries being 70% heavier and consuming over 30% more fuel than the original C-class ferries built in BC, says BC First spokesman Chris Delaney.

Delaney says BC Ferries’ own fuel consumption records show the Super C – class Coastal Renaissance averaged 8,416 litres of fuel per round trip, compared with an average of 6,491 litres by the older C-class Queen of Oak Bay.

“No wonder they have moored the Coastal Renaissance in Nanaimo in favour of using the Queen of Oak Bay. It is a great, big, heavy gas guzzling monster that would be better off as a luxury ocean liner than an efficient people moving transport vehicle,” said Delaney.

A technical paper authored by senior members of the German design team from Flensburger, Schiffbau, Gesellschaft that built the ferries, states, “Some of the design requirements put forward by BC Ferries had been very hard to fulfill in the final concept… These requirements lead to an unconventional propulsion concept… This propulsion concept is embedded into a completely new hull form that was developed on the basis of numerical flow simulations.”

“What they are saying is they were charting new ground with these ferries. Rather than improving the design of the extremely efficient C-class vessels built in the late 70’s in BC, they were basically starting from scratch. And they were taking direction from a Ferries CEO without any background, experience or knowledge in shipping. That combination is proving to be a disaster with these new Super C – class ferries,” said Delaney.

Delaney points out that a further complication from the unique design is that when the ships are docked and unloaded they create an inordinate amount of noise and vibration due to the propeller tips traveling at 76mph while only 8 inches below the water’s surface.

“It seems this feature is causing what the designers refer to as ‘cavitation’ or ‘air drawing’. The locals in Nanaimo began complaining almost immediately of the noise and in some cases vibrations that were reported to be causing structural damage to nearby homes as soon as the new ferry was put into operation. It is looking more and more like these ferries are as big of a white elephant as the Fast Ferries.”

Delaney says BC First has submitted an FOI request to obtain more data on all three of the new Super C- class ferries to determine their fuel consumption and operational activities.

“We’ll continue to report on this growing problem with the new ferries to see if any solutions can be developed. Mooring the ships and pretending there isn’t a problem is the first problem that needs to be addressed. From there, we can try to determine if retro-fitting variable speed motors and returning to an old style prop system is feasible, whether that would actually solve the problem, and what the cost/benefit will be of trying to fix this mess after the fact,” concluded Delaney.

DO BC LIBERALS HAVE THEIR OWN “FUEL FERRIES FIASCO” IN THE MAKING? | BC First Party

DO BC LIBERALS HAVE THEIR OWN “FUEL FERRIES FIASCO” IN THE MAKING? | BC First Party.

DO BC LIBERALS HAVE THEIR OWN “FUEL FERRIES FIASCO” IN THE MAKING?

PORT COQUITLAM – (Monday, February 07, 2011) – In a stunning revelation made on the Voice of BC political channel last week, BC Ferry Corporation CEO David Hahn, in answer to a question by panelist Bill Tieleman admitted that the new German built Super-C Class Ferry “Coastal Renaissance” is being moored in Nanaimo due to its high level of fuel consumption says BC First spokesman, Chris Delaney.

Delaney says Hahn explained that the new Super C- class ferry, delivered to BC Ferries in 2008, has been sitting due to its extremely high fuel consumption costs. Instead, Hahn says they are using The Queen of Oak Bay and other 1960’s built ferries in its place.

“Kind of defeats the purpose of the whole exercise, doesn’t it?” said Delaney. “These new ferries were built to replace the so called ‘failed Fast Cats’ that purportedly were not able to go as fast as designed on a full tank of fuel, and whose jet thrusters were considered unsuitable for use on the ferry runs.”

“But rather than retro-fit the Fast Cats with prop engines at a cost estimated at $60 million, the Liberals sold the $300 million units for less than the cost of scrap metal at $16 million. They then ordered new ferries from German shipyards at a cost of over $500 million which are now considered by the corporation to be such gas guzzlers that they are not economical to run. We’ve gone from the ‘Fast Ferries Fiasco’ to the ‘Fuel Ferries Fiasco’!”

Delaney says the revealing comments by Hahn show that the BC Ferry Corporation may have mismanaged the contract for the new ferries. “It also proves that the old ferries have stood the test of time and not only can we build better ferries here, but we know the right kind to build for our market.”

“Instead, we have the equivalent of a ‘Mercedes Benz’ sitting in the doc in Nanaimo collecting barnacles, while we continue to drive our older ‘Honda Civic’ versions that can still do the job after 40 years of use. It is ridiculous.”

Delaney says the BC First party has submitted an FOI request to get information on the other two Super C class ferries to see if the same “mooring” is taking place with them, and to what degree the new ferries are not operational.

“What is becoming more and more clear is that a comprehensive review of how our ferry system is run is badly needed. We simply cannot afford to spend billions on ferries that don’t serve our needs, and which have only resulted in higher and higher rates for service,” Delaney concluded.

BC FERRY INCREASES SIGN OF EXTREME MANAGEMENT FAILURE | BC First Party

BC FERRY INCREASES SIGN OF EXTREME MANAGEMENT FAILURE | BC First Party.

BC FERRY INCREASES of 20%, 50% and 100% SIGN OF EXTREME MANAGEMENT FAILURE

PORT COQUITLAM – (Sunday, February 06, 2011) –  A new round of never-ending rate increases just announced by BC Ferry Corporation CEO David Hahn is a sign of extreme management failure says BC First spokesman, Chris Delaney.

Delaney says the BC Ferry Corporation is still in the midst of yearly rate increases announced in 2008 that were set to last until 2012. “The new increases of up to 20% on major routes, 50% on minor routes, and as much as 100% for northern routes set to take place starting in 2012 means the cost of running the Ferry system in BC is unsustainable under the current model.”

“The rates continue to rise well beyond the rate of inflation, and yet the Ferries continue to require subsidies by government to remain cost affordable by any definition. This means privatization of the Ferry system management has been a failure,” said Delaney.

Delaney says the increases, which include up to 100% more for so called “oversize” RVs will also harm tourism to the Islands, a major economic driver in the region.

“We were told that privatization would make the Ferry system more affordable and more efficient. That simply has not happened. Instead of subsidizing the cost of the Ferries, BC taxpayers are subsidizing the incompetence of a semi-private company that pays its CEO $1 million per year, along with exorbitant salaries to other senior executives’ and board members that are double the going rate for similar executives in the private sector. It’s like we are subsidizing a country club.”

Delaney says the BC Ferry Corporation is bloated in every aspect of its operations, using 4,500 employees to move 2 million less passengers every year than neighbouring Washington State Ferry Corporation does with 1,800 employees. He says the BC Liberal Government decision to build new ferries in Germany rather than at the North Vancouver shipyards has also had an overall negative impact on Ferry costs.

“Those are tax dollars that have gone out of the province forever. Had the ships been built here, those dollars would have circulated back into our economy, and back into the Ferries operations,” said Delaney.

Delaney says BC First believes the BC Ferry system should be returned to public ownership and administration, and treated as part of the highway system.

“If we have to subsidize it as we are now, then we should be controlling the use of tax dollars and fares for the public’s benefit, rather than giving them to a private company that is reaping huge bonuses and rewards while failing to keep costs in line even with inflation. It is clear that consumers of Ferry service and all taxpayers in BC are not getting value for their dollars,” Delaney concluded.

Province Newspaper supports Craig James in Attempt to Discredit Fight HST on the Eve of two More MLA Recall Campaigns

Editorial: We have no reason to look down on U.S.. (read referenced article)

Once again the Province/Sun ownership steps up to the plate to get behind the clearly political actions of Elections BC CEO Craig James in an attempt to discredit the Fight HST campaign. What is happening at Elections BC is something that should have the people of BC showing up in the thousands protesting that their democracy is being run over by the BC Liberal appointed hack Craig James.

Watching this play out with an accomplice big media is like watching a scene from behind the iron curtain during the Cold War. Government and media working hand in hand to dupe the public into creating massive lies, saying them often enough, so everyone will believe them. If there was ever a case to prove this point is how Elections BC “temporary” CEO Craig James has handled the HST file.

Case in point, Craig James in the fall 2010 announces on the eve of the recall of Ida Chong that there was a number of people who may be criminally prosecuted and harassed by the RCMP because they may have signed the petition more than once. It most cases this was accidental. Why did James go public with this? To create fear. Nothing more nothing less. Now on the eve of two recall campaigns in the Comox Valley and in Kamloops out comes James again in the press, this time trying to paint the Fight HST people as crazies running around the province conspiring to kill him. Even worse using the shootings in Arizona as a backdrop excuse for his fear. Why did James go public with this? Simple! To create sympathy in public as a cover for his clearly corrupt actions.  Secondly, demonize the Fight HST organization as crazies. Discredit! Discredit! Discredit! Sound familiar? This is right out of the BC Liberal play book.

After Neufeld left the post as CEO of Elections BC its been all downhill from there. Neufeld requested that he could stay on until the HST petition process had been completed and the BC Liberals rejected Neufeld outright installing Craig James instead. Immediately James goes to work stalling the successful petition from being delivered to the BC Legislature. He had no right to stall this process because the law clearly stated it was his job to deliver it regardless of whatever legal action might be pending. The judge presiding chastised Craig for his actions.

James is then given the knife to take out Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Linda Johnson. Johnson a 19 year veteran at Elections BC was taken out because clearly the government (read Colin Hansen) was not happy that she told the BC Liberals they could not advertise pro HST propaganda during the signature drive. Reason being is the BC Liberal government failed to register with Elections BC to campaign against the HST petition. Clearly and politically motivated firing in an institution that is supposed to be unbiased and free from this kind of activity.

Shame on the “mainstream media” for not covering this story properly. However, the mainstream press have shown they are political activists for the governing party. The press has a moral and professional responsibility to go after the truth and not act as propagandists for the BC Liberal Party. Defending their candidates is the media’s mantra of the day. It must end and hopefully declining readership will hit news outlets like the Province or Sun where it counts in their wallet and force them to change. Otherwise if they don’t websites like this and countless thousands of  Bloggers and Twittering masses are glad to pick up the ball and fill the void left by the main stream press.

As for Craig James of Elections BC. No one wants to see him dead nor wish harm on his family, however, after this gang of BC Liberals crooks get knocked out of government I can’t say I wouldn’t be happy watching Mr. James being walked down a court room aisle in handcuffs. His actions seemingly are criminal and he needs to be investigated, charged, and convicted for his behaviour.

B.C. electoral officer Craig James uses Arizona shooting in an attempt to discredit FightHST. Pathetic

B.C. electoral officer Craig James getting death threats from anti-HST activists.

How disgusting and desperate for the Chief Electoral officer to politicize the position as head of Elections BC. Elections BC is an institution that is and must be independent of partisan politics.

It is absolutely pathetic he would use the Arizona shooting as a way to try and discredit the Fight HST organization. If he has a problem with a few e-mails from crazy nutbars then send them to the RCMP and not the Vancouver Sun and Times Colonist.

Craig James has turned what was supposed to be a non partisan agency of the government into a political circus because of his clear bias against the Fight HST activists. He must be working for the BC Liberals otherwise they (BC Liberals) would have removed him long ago and replaced him with a new CEO of Elections BC and it would have been done through the legislature.

Shame on Craig James and the BC Liberals. Your corruption knows no boundaries.
